United States and China Announces Plans Reduce Emissions

Bogor, January 5, 2015

United States and China have announced a new plan to reduce emissions causing global temperature rise. It occurs when the top leaders of both countries held a meeting in Beijing on Wednesday (12/11).

The announcement can help play an important role in global efforts to address climate change because the US and China is the largest emitter of carbon dioxide in the world.

President Barack Obama said the US agreed to cut emissions by 26 to 28 percent before 2025, or double the rate of pollution reduction efforts today.

President Xi Jinping announced target CO2 emissions peak sometime before 2030. China is the biggest polluter in the world, and there CO2 emissions continue to rise.

The announcement is the result of many months of dialogue between Washington and Beijing, which hopes the move will encourage progress in climate talks in Paris.
